Minutes of the General Meeting
held at Brickhampton Court on 17th May 2007
1. J. McCoull opened the meeting at 1950 with the following present:-
N. Couch; G. Richards; K. Smith; J. Vanstone; K. Edwards; J. Gilbertson;
G. Willmott; D. Matthews; B. Robinson; G. Mutch; R. Everitt; M. Filby; I.
Ellinor;
C. Hamilton; C. Greenhill; B. Abbott; J. Lawson.
2. The meeting took the form of a discussion on the future prospects of
the Championships. The following points were made:-
A. With decreasing support, a line should be drawn after this year=s
event, to draw the Champs to a close.
B. It could be run on a
>social=
basis comprising 18 holes only.
C. Teams should be disbanded, and the event run on an individual basis.
3. None of the above was particularly well endorsed. Further
discussion showed a definite consensus that we should attempt to run at
least one more event, to reach the 30th Championship figure.
The following two proposals were then forthcoming:-
(1). I. Ellinor suggested that Scarborough (IMGS) would investigate
the possibility of holding an event in the Scarborough area over two -
three days. He would report back by 30th June 2007.
(2). J. Vanstone had done some preliminary ground work, and offered
to firmly cost a
>corporate=
event in the Midlands or Cheltenham area. He sought any good suggestions
from any source as to particular venues which might be suitable .
4. On being put to the vote, there was a majority in favour of the
second option. However, I. Ellinor would still report back with findings
from IMGS.
5. Post-meeting, J. Vanstone also offered to investigate the
possibility of hosting the championships at Bude in 2008, over two days.
This proposal was also given support. J. Vanstone would therefore carry
out two
>costings=,
and report back in about the same time-frame.
6. It was anticipated that a further discussion on the same lines would
be held in 2008, if a Championship is held. There being no further
business, the meeting was closed at 2030.
